Case Study – Asset Strategy Review – Mobile Fleet and Processing PlantHard Rock Underground Mine - NSW, Australia

The Challenge
The client had many areas within the Asset Management boundaries needing improvement but was uncertain of the level of improvement required and the roadmap to achieve a successful outcome. They recognised that Mobile Maintenance and the Process Plant would benefit from improved asset strategies based on feedback from a recent asset maturity evaluation.
To provide improved services at optimised costs to their customers and shareholders, it was identified that there was an opportunity to review the strategies that were employed to manage Underground Mobile Fleet and Processing Plant across the business in a focused improvement project.
The Solution
EnterpriseIS developed and documented the overall processes for improving the asset register, maintenance plans and tactics and equipment spares strategy for Mobile Fleet and Processing.
A series of Asset Criticality and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) workshops were facilitated with site personnel to develop the Maintenance strategy and tactics, with the focus being the level of criticality of the equipment in the process.
The Asset Register was reviewed and updated for relevance of assets. The asset hierarchy was standardised with agreed systems and sub-systems in place.
The maintenance tactics were written and entered into a standardised template for collation into work packages and then loaded onto the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for use by the site’s personnel.
The Results
1. A reviewed/refined/developed asset structure with updates populated in upload template ready for loading into Pronto
2. A FMECA driven, equipment specific, Maintenance Strategy was developed to steer the direction of maintenance on site.
3. New and upgraded maintenance schedules for all equipment on site, identifying location, type of activity, associated parts & materials, along with supporting procedures and diagrams.
4. All maintenance documents stored in the same format for use with Pronto CMMS maintenance tasks.
