Case Study - Asset Readiness Gap Assessment and Maintenance Build Mineral Sands Process Plant & Mine - NSW, Australia
The Challenge
The client was transitioning from commissioning phase to ramp-up and wanted to incorporate Operational Readiness (OR) into the project.
EnterpriseIS was engaged to identify gaps in the current asset management readiness and provide support to close these gaps before production commenced.
The goal was to ensure the plant was fully prepared for maintenance at start-up.
The client required a clear understanding of their maintenance readiness status and the actions needed to achieve operational readiness.
This included mapping the current state, identifying gaps, and implementing solutions within a tight timeline.
The Solution
Information was gathered from the project teams to assess:
- The current Floc structure and metadata levels
- The effort required for updates
- Whether criticality assessments or FMECAs had been developed
- Whether a maintenance strategy existed to guide the build
- Whether a skeleton structure was in place for tactic development, maintenance items and build tracking.
The review identified several gaps between existing activities and those required for ramp-up. Key information was then used to restructure the Floc and enhance it further. Workshops with cross-functional teams were conducted to develop:
- An asset strategy document
- Criticality assessments
- FMECAs
These outputs were integrated into an overall skeleton build, providing a comprehensive view of all activities, their frequencies, assigned resources, tactic titles, and maintenance items to be created.
The Results
A simplified, integrated Floc and skeleton structure was delivered, enabling the client to build the required maintenance framework for the site.
All assets were assigned criticality ratings, tasks were identified, gaps were closed, resources allocated, tactics titled, and SAP maintenance items created.
The client was handed a Floc and all required maintenance activities. The project was completed on schedule, ensuring timely deliverables and readiness for tactic development as the project approached start-up.
