The Challenge
To achieve the goals set out in the Port Operations Business Plan, the client’s Maintenance and Engineering function needed to confirm that the team possessed a clear understanding of the site Business Plan, Objectives, Measures and Targets and the path their function needed to take, to achieve delivery of this plan.
To accomplish this, EnterpriseIS needed to facilitate the Maintenance and Engineering function through a Business Planning process that ensured alignment with the overall site Business Plan.
The Solution
In order to develop this plan, the following steps were taken:
- Review overall business strategy for the next 1, 3 and 5 years
- Understand the implications to the Maintenance and Engineering function, based on the overall business strategy and requirements
- Review the functions past performance
- Assess the current ‘Strengths’ and Weakness’ for the Maintenance and Engineering function, based on performance
- Develop the Objectives, Measures and Targets for the coming 12 months that would facilitate the delivery on the overall business requirements
- Agree on the responsibility for delivering on the targets and the time required for delivery.
The Results
- A unified and agreed 12-month Business Plan for Maintenance and Engineering was published covering the 5 key driver areas for the business
- All facets of the Maintenance and Engineering Business Plan for the coming financial year were fully understood by the stakeholders involved
- Business Plan objectives that were deemed to be critical in addressing the ‘Key Business Risks’ were highlighted.
