The Challenge
Our client’s Thailand operation was in need of a detailed Disaster Management Plan that required their business would continue to be viable, post any crisis or emergency, such as social or political unrest, flooding, or gas explosion.
The Solution
An EnterpriseIS team member facilitated a series of emergency situation identification workshops with relevant stakeholders to:
- Identify what potential emergencies were likely or possible
- Identify and validate the likely causes of these emergencies, possible leading indicators, signs that the emergency has occurred, potential consequences of emergencies (probability and impact)
- For each emergency situation, develop a series of common controls (contingent actions) to minimise the negative impacts to employees and the business of the emergency event and resumption of operations to normal conditions as soon as possible.
Comprehensive training and continued practice drills ensured that the organisation was capable of minimising the negative impact of any disaster or emergency.
The Results
Our client now has in place a full crisis and emergency planning system, ensuring efficient and effective management of any disaster.
This was tested in the Bangkok floods of 2012, where no personal injury was sustained and the business maintained limited operations during the crisis. The business was restored to full operating capacity with minimal negative impact to its customers.
