The Challenge
Our client was seeking to review their internal processes regarding inspection and maintenance of their major equipment in order to identify enhancements to the way they managed the risk of equipment failure during operations.
The Solution
Working closely with the operations, maintenance and safety personnel, our team used the EnterpriseIS Asset Management Evaluation Tool as the framework to map the current status of inspection and maintenance processes.
The resulting process map identified the critical elements and gaps within the inspection and maintenance system. These areas were discussed with the client to develop an improvement roadmap.
The Results
Within a short period, the team reviewed and redesigned the critical elements of the process that could easily be implemented to improve the system.
The action plan was agreed with the client along with the implementation steps. The outcomes of these actions would then result in:
- More effective inspection scheduling and planning
- Alignment of maintenance activities to reduce fleet downtime
- Enhanced operator knowledge so they could identify critical defects on the job
- Better data management to enable effective maintenance follow-up from inspections.
Through working closely with the process owners during the solutions development phase the business was able to readily implement the steps within the following 6 weeks to significantly enhance the way they managed risk and improve maintenance activities.
