The Challenge
Our clients business had completed a step change program with the focus on improving ‘bottom line’ performance.
One of the areas of improvement identified was the need to improve the quality of the existing Preventive Maintenance (PM) strategy and tactics used on site.
EnterpriseIS were engaged by our client to facilitate this improvement process.
The Solution
The approach utilised for the optimisation of the PM strategies included workshops with the subject matter experts to complete Criticality Assessment and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
This ensured that the Operating Strategy and Process Criticality drove the review, development and improvement of the required maintenance tactics for the plant in their Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
The Results
- Improved the effectiveness of the plant lubrication schedule by ensuring that all critical equipment would receive the correct type, quantity and frequency of lubricant
- The site Condition Monitoring schedule was optimised to focus on the correct operating parameters for all critical equipment on site
- All “Non-Value” (redundant or duplicate) maintenance tactics identified were removed from the PM program
- Re-aligned the focus of the maintenance strategy from an “activity” based program, to a predictive “data driven” program
- The resulting improvement in the quality of the PM strategy and tactics assisted the plant, to implement ‘Best Practice Maintenance’ standards.
