Case Study - Project Execution Improvement Gold Mine - South Africa

The initial part of the project was at the Gold Mine during the shaft sinking phase where key business risks were identified by the Principal.

The project was 4 months behind schedule and the contractor was facing significant financial penalties and reputational damage.

The improvement project focus was on getting the project back on track, as soon as possible.  

This was achieved through the implementation of short interval process management controls, to get all personnel to understand where the delays were occurring, and building fixes into a far more effective planning process, to ensure the correct scheduling of resources and equipment.  

Implemented multi-blasting within each shift at the shaft bottom, improved maintenance practices contributed greatly to outcome.
