The Challenge
In order to meet requirements of National Rail Legislation, our client had identified the requirement to review and update the existing interface agreements across their rail operations.
As the scope of work required the management of a complex group of stakeholders and an understanding of the legal requirements necessary for compliance, EnterpriseIS was engaged to deliver this project.
The Solution
Working closely with site owners, safety personnel and interface partners, EnterpriseIS conducted reviews of the existing safety interface documentation that included the following activities:
- Updates to interface agreements to align with changes to national rail legislation
- Co-ordinate the update of risk assessments for each interface
- Conduct and co-ordinate inspections of physical interfaces with site owners / operators
- Identify and update interface agreements to reflect changes in operating processes and physical assets
- Change management for client sites to ensure updates to interface agreements were implemented
- Rationalise the number of interface agreements to simplify and improve the management of stakeholders, including Government bodies, service providers and contractors
The Results
At the conclusion of the project, EnterpriseIS delivered the following outcomes for the client:
- Risk assessments aligned to the current risks for each site
- Signed interface agreements
- Agreement from interface parties to implement changes to interface agreements as required
- Reduction of total interface agreements from 34 to 26
The improvement process enabled the client to ensure operational risks and risk management processes were aligned to changes in the national rail legislation.
