A leading electrical cable manufacturer in Western Sydney faced a critical challenge: significant reliability issues that were hindering their ability to meet monthly customer targets for domestic electrical cable production. With baseline performance falling 60% short of target, the business was at a crossroads.

As the company looked ahead to a forecasted growth surge in the upcoming financial year, overcoming this performance gap became a top priority. The workforce was presented with an exciting opportunity to implement new strategies and drive transformative improvements.

By optimising processes and enhancing reliability, the business is poised to meet both current and future demands – ensuring long-term success and customer satisfaction.

Utilising the reliability and continuous improvement toolkits as the foundation tool set, EnterpriseIS tailored an applied learning approach to achieve the required business performance needs.

Project teams were carefully selected, coached and mentored by an experienced consultant to develop and implement the required changes.

Firstly, through implementation of the EnterpriseIS toolkit, the teams identified the factors that were lacking control and impacting reliability. This led to a series of trials being completed for further assessment.  During assessment, all relevant process inputs were monitored to identify process and reliability issues.

As a requirement of the project, the team then progressed through a series of tollgates, which were presented to the Management team for approval and support.

The project was completed with clear and concise identification of root causes, process and reliability improvements which were successfully trialled. A clear sustainability plan was developed to lock in and sustain the improvements.
