visual management case study - EnterpriseIS

The Challenge

Our client had established a series of visibility boards across their organisation however, their adoption and use were not uniform which diminished their effectiveness and value to the organisation.

The need existed to:

  • align people to objectives
  • display relevant content
  • define actions simply
  • improve capability
  • sustain adoption and use

The Solution

Stakeholders were engaged at head office to understand the corporate objectives, challenges, and gaps. This was followed by engaging stakeholders at site to evaluate acceptance, capability, and the technical solution given these three elements are critical to what EnterpriseIS refer to as Improvement Sustainability (IS).

IS = ƒ (Acceptance x Capability x Technical Solution) or, IS = ƒ (A.C.T)

Having a clear picture of the objectives, challenges, and gaps enabled a targeted action plan to be developed.

Facilitated workshops engaged teams in process mapping, data sourcing, identifying tagets, and how best to arrange that information which is critical to the work group and achievement of business plans. Board design review workshops followed.

Ownership and acceptance were established, and coaching took place to enhance capability and shape a consistent approach across the different departments.

The Results

The boards were better utilised to display and trend business objectives and targets against actual performance.

Where variances, risks, or obstacles to achievement of targets were identified, the board enabled actions to be assigned, escalated, and monitored.
