The implementation or upgrade of a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, provides the opportunity to review and update the data to ensure it is accurate and relevant to the business. These implementations or upgrades are often accompanied by time pressures to align with the business needs and milestones of the OEM implementation team.
In this case study, EnterpriseIS was engaged by our client to assist with the development of the master data required, to establish asset level bills of material (BOM) for a major asset.
Working alongside the clients’ team, we were able to identify a pathway to retrieve data from a combination of legacy systems, in order to enable the efficient establishment of new BOMs. This meant the project team was able to completely develop all of the necessary BOMs, which were required to support the next major shut-down.
As a result of the project, maintenance personnel were able to reduce delays associated with sourcing spare parts by up to 90% and significantly reduce the amount of hours spent in planning activities. With this new data now in place, the client is able to undertake investigations into the cost of inventory to identify further cost savings.
