Historically, our client’s approach to maintenance had been predominantly reactive, with some programmed maintenance controlled via a manual “card system”. 

New management within the organisation saw the need improve the overall approach to maintenance.  The new approach would focus on utilising formalised business processes, supported by a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

There was a requirement to develop maintenance work business processes to support the new maintenance philosophy, and then select a CMMS that would support the new business processes and the organisation, as it strived to implement improved maintenance practices.

EnterpriseIS assisted the client by facilitating a number of workshops, to identify the way maintenance was currently managed and controlled within the business (The “As-Is”).

Once the current or “As Is” situation was understood, EnterpriseIS then facilitated the business through the process of identifying the inadequacies or “Gaps” in the current processes.

This allowed the business to identify new business processes for maintenance work management that would address or close the identified gaps.

The new business processes covered the work management areas of: Operational indicators, Work identification, Authorisation, Planning and Scheduling, Work Execution and Job Completion.  Work Reporting and Feedback were also included to allow for a continuous improvement cycle to exist.

The new business processes, once finalised and agreed, became the specifications for the selection of a new CMMS.
