In the Spotlight: Amanda Harvey
Hi everyone — I’m Amanda Harvey, Senior Consultant and Asset Management Specialist here at EnterpriseIS. In simple terms, I help clients build systems from scratch – figuring out what they need, then designing and implementing solutions so things run more smoothly, efficiently, and reliably.
How I Got Here
I grew up in Wollongong, where the Steelworks were a major part of life – many people’s jobs, many families’ routines. I wanted something substantial and hands‑on, so instead of taking a traditional path, I chose to do a Fitter & Turner apprenticeship. Best decision I ever made. That trade foundation taught me problem‑solving, tenacity, and the value of building from the ground up – skills I rely on every day in my current role.
What I Love About My Work
I have a special affection for new projects – those beginnings where everything is wide open. Getting to know a company’s challenges, understanding what makes them tick, then using the tools and expertise we have to carve out a solution – that energises me.
What might surprise people is how much I enjoy the messy, “bare bones” phase – the ambiguity, the brainstorming, the figuring‑out. It’s in those early moments that foundations are laid, and every decision matters.
Outside of the Office
When I’m not working, I’m with Kaos and Jax, my two dogs. They ground me, make me laugh – and really make my day. I also love a good trip: one of my favourite adventures was travelling through 9 countries in Africa. Not in resorts, but camping in national parks and reserves. Totals about 12 weeks on that continent now – unforgettable. And closer to home, nothing beats a warm afternoon spent with friends and family, just relaxing and catching up.
Something You Might Not Know
Here’s a fun fact: I’ve spent a dozen weeks in Africa, travelled through nine countries, and didn’t once stay in a fancy game lodge. For me, the beauty was in the adventure — the wildlife, the landscapes, the unpredictable moments. It’s taught me a lot about adaptability, resilience, and appreciating what’s right in front of you.
My Guiding Principle
If I had to sum up how I lead and work, it’s this:
“Never ask anyone to do anything you would not be willing to do yourself.”
I believe in showing up, doing the hard yards, holding myself to the same standard I expect of others. That mindset keeps things honest, builds respect, and creates teams that trust each other.
