Day 2 on the road this week had us making the trip from Stawell through to Bendigo for the final Austmine networking event at The National Hotel. The event provided an opportunity to showcase the work being done by Deepcore Drilling and get the chance to see the EV that Safescape are developing for the mining industry. It was fantastic to hear from these businesses and see the level of innovation they are brining to the METS sector. Deepcore are a specialist diamond drilling company that have recently been recognised for their work in developing a sound proof enclosure that enables them to conduct continuous drilling operations within proximity of residential areas.
This significantly increases the utilisation of their assets, enabling them to complete drilling campaigns more efficiently and work within the noise constraints of rural areas. Safescape are a Bendigo based company, which started out providing underground escape infrastructure and have since grown to supply operations across Australia and the USA. They have recently commenced the development of a fleet of light electric vehicles designed to support the mining, agriculture, forestry and military. Their approach has been to use a proven vehicle type and retro-fit it with battery technology that can be charged using standard mining power sources, to enable it to be used and supported onsite without the need for additional infrastructure.Thanks again to Sheldon Varcoe and Dale Thompson from Austmine for putting together another great event.
