Mainstream Conference 2022
Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to attend the Mainstream Asset Management Conference in Melbourne. It was apparent from the moment we arrived that the asset management crowd was stoked at the opportunity to socialise emerging from lockdown. It was a bundle of laughs talking with past colleagues and meeting new ones.
Our theme of Operational Readiness resonated with the Mainstream Community, with numerous conversations on what it takes to do it well. Many had never experienced a start-up where a systemic approach, such as using our Framework (as pictured below), was used to develop and track the Ops Readiness plan.
Amongst the many speakers at the conference, our team were inspired by Dr Catherine Ball’s talk about emerging technology and its humanitarian purposes. Her presentation skills were up with the very best. Dr Ball also spoke passionately about the challenges and importance of females entering the STEM community.
The team also enjoyed the session with Rob Kalwarowsky regarding suicide, leadership and reliability. This talk gave greater insight into the culture within our workplaces and personal stories about our own mental health and the problems many of us experience.
It was great to be part of such a well-run event by the Eventful Group, which for more than 25 years has continued to support its members throughout the years and advocate for the asset management community and support its members. Thanks to Chris Carroll, Guy Freebody, Lisa Irving and the team from Mainstream for another well-run event.
